The Wendy Parent Fellowship in Disability Employment
The Wendy Parent Fellowship in Disability Employment is a one-year mentorship program named after Dr. Wendy Parent-Johnson, a distinguished mentor of the Professional Fellows Program on Inclusive Civic Engagement (PFP). Dr. Parent-Johnson has served as our technical advisor and mentor since 2022. Under her guidance, we won the Professional Fellows Outbound fellowship, established valuable partnerships with universities locally and in the U.S., and our chairperson was recognized as an Alumni Impact Awardee by U.S. Department of State.
The fellowship will preserve the legacy of Dr. Parent-Johnson’s contributions to advancing supported employment opportunities in Uganda, while fostering cross-cultural exchange and nurturing collaborations between Ugandan and U.S. professionals and organizations in the field of disability employment.
The Wendy Parent Fellowship will support young leaders from Uganda with deep expertise in the field of disability and working on some of the most urgent challenges facing inclusive, integrated employment for people with disabilities. These fellows will receive training, mentoring, networking, and technical resources to develop and implement innovative solutions for inclusive, integrated and competitive employment for people with disabilities in their communities.
