Advocate for inclusion in healthcare through appropriate strategies that foster equity and inclusivity, including information workshops, and sign language training for healthcare workers.
In times of systemic inequalities, discriminatory practices, and inadequate policies, access to healthcare becomes a critical determinant of health equity. Achieving health equity requires addressing disparities in access to medical services, treatments, and preventive care across different demographic groups. The work in this focus area would address barriers such as income inequality, language barriers, and lack of healthcare information.
Goal: Advocate for an inclusive healthcare system by raising awareness of and addressing disparities in access to healthcare services faced by marginalized communities.
Strategies
Conduct workshops and webinars to explore practical tools to build trust, shift mindsets, and shape collaborative efforts in improving access to healthcare.
Organize a ‘Fridays for Health’ campaign to share health information with members of disabled communities, including students in primary and secondary special needs schools.
Conduct after-class sign language classes for medical and nursing students in universities to enhance their ability to communicate with patients who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Advocate for a government health insurance scheme by raising awareness of and responding to its greatest threats through proactive advocacy campaigns.
